I think I touched on this before in another thread but i'd like to bring it up again as many of you (in America at least) may have already heard that Miss California (Carre Prejean) is no former Miss California after losing her title yesterday.

A little bit of background for some of you:
In the beauty pageant Ms. Prejean was asked if she supports same sex marriages and she answered that she does not. Since she gave her answer there has been a lot of controversy surrounding her view which she has stuck with and not apologized for.

I commend her for not abandoning her views even if it angers other people because it is HER view.

What bothers me is why are they asking a question if someone answers the way they aren't expecting they are going to take away her title? If they can't take an opposing view why are they even asking the question?

I know some of you may come in and argue that she lost her title because she took a book deal but that is false, there was NO book deal.

Is it really fair to strip someone of something they have earned just for expressing their own views? After all California voted against same sex marriage and she is representing California.

Unbelievable.

Actually, from what I read, she got fired for skipping events that she was suppose to attend as Miss California. And for appearing as a speaker at non-sanctioned events.

Now, the young lady does have the right to speak her mind and blah blah blah, but Miss California is a job and does come with a contract. If shes breaking it(and I've seen no indications to the contrary, like a lawsuit) she deserves to be fired.

And I'm not saying that's the whole story behind her firing, but shes been on thin ice since the Miss America pageant. She shouldn't be giving anyone (legal)reasons to strip her of her title.

She lost her crown for contract violations (not showing up for appearances, for example), not for her answer. She was fired. Bad news for her is, being fired involves losing the crown.

The better question to ask is, why do the media and the public care so much what a brainless, talentless mass of purchased boobs and fake values thinks about anything?

She actually attended many events. They were asking her to go to events that promoted same sex marriage that she refused to go to for obvious reasons so stripping her title for that is absurd.

I'd like to know specifically which appearances she missed and if she had a good reason for missing them. Likewise it would also be relevant to see if any other people who kept their titles missed any of their events and how many.

If we could see those things then we'd know if it's politics or not that got her fired.

Either way, I think that she should continue on advocating straight-only marriage because that's what she, the people of her state, and (if he's to be believed) the president also believe in.

It isn't so much about the beauty pageant as much as it is about everyone hounding her for believing in something they don't. It's actually funny when the gay community and their supporters get so pissed when someone opposes their views.

If anything she will capitalize off of this and she is building up a good career for herself.

Just because no one saw that answer coming and in society today everyone [myself included] thinks gay marriage should be allowed.
I'm glad she stuck to her personal views and doesn't apologize for having them

Umm, in several states including her own, the people voted on amendments banning gay marriage. In real america people want marriage to be between a man and a woman... it's already watered down enough as it is.

I also think that it's sad that people feel like they need the government's stamp of approval one way or the other, because that's all the issue is really about anyways. There are a lot of cultures that were around before the US that had gays, but no gay marriage, so I think there more going on here.

It's fair enough if she didn't show up for events that promoted same sex marriage, it'd be going against her Christian beliefs.
I really admire her for standing up for her (and every Christians) belief and not buckling under all the pressure to give the response that Perez and the judges would have wanted.

I thought it was a huge joke when that douche Perez Hilton criticiser her over her OPINION. She was very diplomatic when she answered his question;

"I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised."

There's nothing wrong with that response. Fair enough, she was raised that way, and she cleared said she didn't want to offend anyone, but that asshat Perez took it as a personal insult.

I think it's ridiculous that it all ended up like this. If it wasn't for Perez being stupid, there wouldn't have been huge media coverage, she wouldn't have had pressure on her to be pro-gay, and she wouldn't have lost her crown.

The problem here is Perez Hilton. Someone should murder him. I like gay guys/gals, but this guy is an asshole. No other way of putting it. Gay or straight, he's an asshole.

Uhm. She was removed because she was ignoring her JOB. It's a job, you sign a contract and you work. You ignore it, you get fired.
